After placing objects in liquid pigment, the colourant soaks into the material, draws a pattern and leaves traces. Over the course of time, the material gradually paints itself – tinted by the interplay of clay, dye and glaze.
The porosity of the material and the dye duration determine the outcome, void of any human intervention. However, the powerful alliance between two colours - one of transparent glaze and one a colourful shade of ink - is expertly arranged by the designers.
